In its coastal zone (Colonia de Sant Pere) Artà preserves some of the oldest archaeological remains on the island: the Naviform settlement of s´Arenalet de Son Colom and the dolmen of s´Aigua Dolça.Its importance in the Talayotic era and until the Roman period can be seen in the settlement of ses Païsses. The religious architecture, manor houses and main buildings in the town centre reflect periods of splendour.

This town maintains the charm of the traditional Mallorca, here it seems that time has not passed.
